Early Childhood Program for Ages 3 to 5
Music is one of the most powerful tools for childhood development—and one of the most joyful. At Hoff-Barthelson Music School, our Early Childhood Program helps children ages 3 to 5 build confidence, coordination, focus, and creativity through music that’s active, engaging, and fun.
Led by expert educators in a nurturing environment, our classes spark imagination and lay the foundation for a lifelong love of music.
Music and Movement: The Heart of the Program
Our Music and Movement classes, inspired by the Dalcroze Eurhythmics method, invite children to sing, move, play rhythm games, and explore music with instruments, scarves, balls, hoops, and puppets. These lively, hands-on experiences introduce musical concepts in a way that’s developmentally meaningful and endlessly fun.
Children gain:
- A strong sense of rhythm and pitch
- Better coordination and body awareness
- Focus, listening, and spatial skills
- Social-emotional growth through group interaction
First Steps with Instruments
For children ready to begin playing, our First Instrument and Pre-Suzuki classes offer small-group instruction in piano, violin, cello, flute, brass, and guitar. These classes prepare young students for private lessons while teaching the joy of making music with others.
Students develop:
- Basic playing technique
- Musical expression and listening skills
- Readiness for future one-on-one study
Not sure which instrument to choose? Our Getting to Know You: Exploring the Instruments class introduces the string, wind, and percussion families through in-class demonstrations by professional musicians—helping each child discover what inspires them.
