At Hoff-Barthelson, we believe that making music together is one of the most rewarding experiences a musician can have. Our celebrated Chamber Music Program offers students of all ages, skill levels, and instruments—including voice—the chance to refine their artistry, develop essential ensemble skills, and experience the joy of collaborative performance.
Under the expert leadership of Chamber Music Program Director Laura Giannini, with Tomoko Uchino coordinating the Piano Ensembles and Rie Matsumoto overseeing Adult Chamber Music, our program fosters musical growth in a nurturing and inspiring environment.
Pre-College (K-12) Chamber Music Program
For young musicians ready to take their playing to the next level, our Pre-College Chamber Music Program offers:
- 28 coaching sessions with expert faculty
- Frequent performance opportunities to build confidence and stage presence
- A supportive, like-minded community that values dedication and collaboration
This program is ideal for intermediate and advanced instrumentalists and pianists who want to challenge themselves, grow musically, and experience the magic of ensemble playing.
Piano Ensemble Division
Designed for intermediate to advanced piano students, our Piano Ensemble Program provides a unique opportunity to explore ensemble playing in a dynamic, hands-on setting. Rehearsals take place in our state-of-the-art piano lab, where students develop skills in:
- Sight-reading and rhythmic precision
- Listening and coordination within an ensemble
- Expressive collaboration with fellow pianists
Whether you’re new to ensemble playing or have prior experience, this program deepens musicality and strengthens connections between musicians.
Adult Chamber Music Program
For adults who love making music, our Adult Chamber Music Program provides the perfect balance of challenge and enjoyment. Open to intermediate and advanced musicians, this program offers:
- 20 weeks of coaching (10 per semester) with experienced faculty
- Carefully curated ensembles based on skill level and experience
- Performance opportunities to celebrate progress and artistry
Participants can join as individuals or with a pre-formed group, making it an excellent opportunity to reconnect with music, refine technique, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow musicians.
